நெல்லை மாநகர பகுதி வழியே கடக்கும் சென்னை - கன்னியாகுமரி பைபாஸ் சாலையை கடக்கையில் ஏற்படும் விபத்துகளைத் தடுக்க, பைபாஸில் பாலம் அமைக்க வேண்டும் என அப்பகுதி மக்கள் கோரிக்கை வைக்கின்றனர்.

இதுதொடர்பாக நம்மிடையே பேசிய அப்பகுதி மக்கள், “சென்னை - கன்னியாகுமரி செல்லும் இந்த பைபாஸ் சாலையில் ஒருபுறமிருந்து மறுபுறம் கடப்பவர்களை பார்க்கும்போது அந்தரத்தில் கயிற்றில் கவனமாக நடக்கும் சர்க்கஸ் வித்தையை போல இருக்கும். ‘கரணம் தப்பினால் மரணம்’ என்ற வார்த்தை இந்த சாலையைக் கடப்பதற்கே பொருந்தும். பத்து நிமிடங்கள் நாம் பைபாஸ் நடுவில் பாதுகாப்பாக நின்று பார்த்தாலும், பாதுகாப்பற்ற சூழலை மனதில் உருவாக்கும் அளவிற்கு இருபுறமும் கடக்கும் வாகனங்களின் வேகம் இருக்கும்” என்று கூறுகின்றனர்.

சமீபத்தில் இந்தச் சாலையைக் கடக்கும் போது உயிரிழந்த ஆறுமுகம் என்ற துப்புரவு தொழிலாளி, இங்கு நடந்த விபத்தில் 16 ஆக சிக்கி உயிரிழந்திருக்கிறார். இவர் நெல்லை மாவட்டம் கீழநத்தம் வடக்கூர் இந்திரா காலனியை சேர்ந்தவர். 48 வயதாகும் ஆறுமுகம், துப்புரவு பணியாளராக கீழநத்தம் பஞ்சாயத்தில் பணியாற்றி வந்துள்ளார். நேற்று முன்தினம் மாலை கீழநத்தம் பஞ்சாயத்துக்கு உட்பட்ட கேடிசி நகர் பகுதியில் துப்புரவு பணிகளை முடித்து வீடு திரும்பியுள்ளார். இவர் வழக்கமாக கன்னியாகுமரி டூ சென்னை பைபாஸ் சாலையில் கீழநத்தம் வரை வந்து சர்வீஸ் சாலை வழியாக ஊருக்குள் செல்வது வழக்கம். அப்படி நேற்று முன்தினம் மாலை பைபாஸ் சாலையில் இருந்து சர்வீஸ் ரோடு வழியாக இருசக்கர வாகனத்தில் கடக்கும் போது பைபாஸில் வேகமாக வந்த கார் மோதியதில் சம்பவ இடத்திலேயே ஆறுமுகம் பரிதாபமாக உயிரிழந்திருக்கிறார்.

இந்த பைபாஸ் சாலையில் இருந்து கீழநத்தம் கிராமத்திற்கு செல்ல வசதியாக சர்வீஸ் சாலை உள்ளது. ஆனால் அதன் ஒருபக்கத்திலிருந்து மறுபக்கம் செல்வதற்குள் மிகுந்த கவனம் தேவைப்படும் இடமாக இருக்கிறது. தூரத்தில் கார் வருகிறது என்று இங்கே சாலையைக் கடந்தால், பைபாஸில் வேகமாக வரும் கார், சர்வீஸ் சாலை நோக்கி செல்லும் இருசக்கர வாகனத்தை நொடியில் மோதி தூக்கி எறிந்து விடுகிறது. இந்த ‘திருப்ப சாலை’யில் அருகே இருக்கும் வாய்க்கால்பால தடுப்பு சுவர் சாலையின் நடுவே அமைந்துள்ளதால் கடக்க முயற்சிக்கும் இருசக்கர வாகன ஓட்டிகளுக்கு, பைபாஸ் சாலையில் தூரத்தில் வரும் வாகனங்களை அதன் வேகத்தை எளிதில் கணிக்க முடிவதில்லை. இப்படி கடக்க முயற்சித்து கடந்த சில மாதங்களில் இழந்த உயிர்களின் எண்ணிக்கை 16 என வேதனையுடன் தெரிவிக்கின்றனர் அப்பகுதி மக்கள்.

கீழநத்தம், வடக்கூர், தெற்கூர், கீழூர், மணப்படைவீடு என 5 கிராம பஞ்சாயத்து மக்கள் கடக்கும் சாலையாக இந்த கீழநத்தம் சர்வீஸ் சாலை உள்ளது. விபத்துக்கள் நடப்பதும் சம்பவ இடத்திலேயே மக்கள் உயிரிழப்பதும் தொடர்கதையாக இங்கு நடந்து வருகிறது.

இந்தப் பிரச்னையை தவிர்க்க ஊருக்குள் திரும்பும்போது திருப்பத்தில் முன்னே பைபாஸில் ஒரு மேம்பாலம் அமைத்தால் 5 கிராம பஞ்சாயத்துகளில் இருந்து நாள்தோறும் நூற்றுக்கணக்கான வாகனங்களில் 500-க்கும் மேற்பட்டோர் சென்று வரக்கூடிய சாலை பாதுகாப்பானதாக மாறும்" என்கின்றனர் மக்கள். 

மேலும், தெரிவிக்கையில், “தொழிலாளி ஆறுமுகத்தின் உயிரிழப்பே இங்கு இறுதியாக இருக்க வேண்டும். அரசும், அரசியல் பதவியில் இருப்பவர்களும் இந்த நாற்கர சாலையில் ஒரு மேம்பாலம் அமைத்துதந்தால், கனரக வாகனங்கள் மற்றும் அதிவேக விரைவு பேருந்துகள் கார்கள் போன்றவை மேம்பாலத்தின் வழியாக செல்ல வசதியாக இருக்கும் என்பதே நாங்கள் சொல்ல வரும் விஷயம். மக்களாகிய நாங்கள் பாலத்தின் கீழே பாதுகாப்பாக இருசக்கர வாகனத்தில் கடந்து செல்வதற்கும், உயிருடன் வீட்டுக்கு சென்று உறவுகளை பார்க்க செல்வதற்கும் வாய்ப்பாக இருக்கும்” என்கின்றனர்.

விபத்தில் உயிரிழந்த ஆறுமுகத்திற்கு மனைவியும், ஒரு மகன் - இரண்டு மகள்கள் என 3 பிள்ளைகள் உள்ளனர். 3 பேருமே கூலித் தொழிலாளர்களாக வேலை பார்த்து வருகிறார்கள். தந்தை ஆறுமுகம் மட்டுமே துப்புரவு தொழிலாளியாக கீழநத்தம் பஞ்சாயத்திற்கு சென்று வந்திருந்தார். இன்று தந்தையை இழந்து இந்த குடும்பம் ஆதரவற்ற நிலையில் நிற்கிறது.

இந்தநிலை தொடராமல் இருக்க கிராம மக்கள் போராட்டத்தை முன்னெடுத்துள்ளனர். ஆனால் கீழநத்தம் கிராமம் நாங்குநேரி சட்டமன்ற தொகுதிக்குட்பட்ட பகுதிக்குள் வருகிறது. நாங்குநேரி சட்டமன்ற தொகுதி காங்கிரஸ் சட்டமன்ற உறுப்பினர் ரூபி மனோகரன் விரைவில் இந்த பகுதிக்கு ஒரு மேம்பாலம் கட்டி தருவதற்கான நடவடிக்கை மேற்கொள்வதாக உறுதியளித்துள்ளார். அதனைத் தொடர்ந்து மக்கள் போராட்டத்தை கைவிட்டுள்ளனர்.

Arumugam, a cleaner who was recently killed while crossing the road, was killed in an accident here at the age of 16. He hails from Indira Colony, Northampton North, Nellai District. Arumugam, 48, has been working as a cleaner in Keelanatham panchayat. The day before yesterday, he returned home after completing the cleaning work in the KTC Nagar area under the Keelanatham panchayat. He used to take the Kanyakumari to Chennai Bypass Road to Keelanatham and enter the city via the Service Road. Arumugam was killed on the spot when a speeding car collided with a two-wheeler on Service Road from Bypass Road yesterday evening.

There is a convenient service road from this bypass road to the village of Keelanatham. But it is also a place that requires a lot of attention before moving from one side to the other. If you cross the road here that the car is coming in the distance, the car coming fast on the bypass will collide with the two-wheeler heading towards the service road and throw it away in an instant. The canal barrier wall near this ‘turn road’ is located in the middle of the road so that oncoming two-wheelers on the bypass road cannot easily predict the speed of oncoming vehicles. The people of the area are sadly reporting that the number of lives lost in the last few months is 16.

The Keelanatham Service Road is the crossing road of the people of 5 Grama Panchayats such as Keelanatham, Vadakkur, Therkur, Keezhur and Manappadaiveedu. Accidents and deaths on the spot are a recurring theme here.

To avoid this problem, if a flyover is built on the bypass in front of the turn on the way back to the town, the road will be safer for more than 500 vehicles carrying more than 500 vehicles daily from 5 gram panchayats, ”people said.

He added, “The death toll of the workers' union should be final here. What we are coming to say is that if the government and those in political office build a flyover on this four-lane road, it will be convenient for heavy vehicles and express buses to pass over the flyover. We, the people, will have the opportunity to ride safely under the bridge on a two-wheeler and go home alive and look at relationships. ”

Arumugam, who died in the accident, is survived by his wife, a son and three daughters. All 3 are working as mercenaries. Father Arumugam was the only cleaner who had gone to Keelanatham panchayat. Today the family is devastated by the loss of their father.

The villagers have been fighting to prevent this situation from continuing. But the village of Keelanatham falls under the Nanguneri assembly constituency. Nanguneri Assembly constituency Congress legislator Ruby Manokaran has promised to build a flyover in the area soon. Following that the people abandoned the struggle.
