சத்தியமங்கலம்: புள்ளிமானை பிடிக்கச் சென்ற பெண் சிறுத்தைக்கு நேர்ந்த பரிதாபம்-Satyamangalam: Pity for the female leopard who went to catch the spotted deer

ஆசனூர் மைசூர் தேசிய நெடுஞ்சாலையில் அடையாளம் தெரியாத வாகனம் மோதிய விபத்தில் பெண் சிறுத்தை உயிரிழந்தது.

சத்தியமங்கலம் புலிகள் காப்பகம், ஆசனூர் வனத்தில் சிறுத்தைகள் அதிகளவில் நடமாடுகின்றன. சிறுத்தைகள் அடிக்கடி சாலையை கடப்பதால் சிறுத்தை நடமாடும் பகுதி என வனத்துறை எச்சரிக்கை பலகையை வைத்துள்ளது. மேலும் வாகனங்கள் 30 கிமீ வேகத்துக்கு குறைவாக செல்ல வேண்டும் எனவும் அறிவுறுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளது.

இந்நிலையில், அண்மையில் பெய்த மழையால் சாலையோரத்தில் செடிகள் வளர்ந்து பச்சைபசேலென காட்சியளிப்பதால், துளிர்விடும் புற்களை சாப்பிட கூட்டம் கூட்டமாக புள்ளிமான்கள் வருகின்றன. ஆசனூர் மைசூர் தேசிய நெடுஞ்சாலையை கடக்கும் சிறுத்தைகள் புள்ளிமான்களை வேட்டையாட முகாமிட்டுள்ளன. இதனால் சிறுத்தைகள் அடிக்கடி சாலையை கடந்து எதிர்புறம் செல்கின்றன.

இதனால், ஆசனூர் வனச்சரக அலுவலகம் முன்பு செல்லும் தேசிய நெடுஞ்சாலையை 2 வயதுள்ள பெண் சிறுத்தை கடக்க முயன்றுள்ளது. அப்போது அவ்வழியாக சென்ற அடையாளம் தெரியாத வாகனம் மோதியதில் சிறுத்தைக்கு பலத்த காயம் ஏற்பட்டது. காயத்துடன் நகர்ந்து சென்ற சிறுத்தை சிறிதுதூரம் சென்றவுடன் சாலையோரம் உயிரிழந்தது.

இதையடுத்து வழக்கமான ரோந்து பணியில் இருந்த வனத் துறையினர் உயிரிழந்த சிறுத்தையின் உடலை கைப்பற்றி ஆய்வு செய்தனர். சிறுத்தை அடிப்பட்டதாக கூறப்படும் இடத்தில் உள்ள ஹோட்டல்களில் உள்ள சிசிடிவி கேமரா பதிவுகளை வைத்து வனத் துறையினர் விசாரித்து வருகின்றனர்.

Female leopard killed in unidentified vehicle collision on Asansol Mysore National Highway

Satyamangalam Tiger Reserve, Asanur Forest Leopards roam in large numbers. The forest department has put up a warning sign as the area where leopards roam as leopards often cross the road. It is also advised that vehicles should go less than 30 kmph.

In this condition, spotted deer come in large numbers to eat the flowering grasses as the roadside plants grow and look green due to the recent rains. Leopards crossing the Asansol-Mysore National Highway are camping to hunt spotted deer. Thus leopards often cross the road and go in the opposite direction.

As a result, a 2-year-old female leopard attempted to cross the National Highway past the Asansol Forest Office. The leopard was seriously injured when an unidentified vehicle collided with it. The leopard, which was moving with the injury, died on the roadside after a short distance.

Following this, the forest department, which was on regular patrol, seized the body of the dead leopard and examined it. The Forest Department is investigating by keeping CCTV camera recordings of hotels in the area where the leopard was allegedly killed.
