சேலத்தில் வீட்டில் எரிவாயு சிலிண்டர் வெடித்து 4 வீடுகள் இடிந்து தரைமட்டமான விபத்தில், ஒருவர் உயிரிழந்த நிலையில் காயமடைந்த 12 பேர் அரசு மருத்துவமனையில் சிகிச்சைக்காக அனுமதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளனர்.
சேலம் கருங்கல்பட்டி பாண்டுரங்கன் கோவில் தெரு பகுதியில் ஏராளமான குடியிருப்புகள் நெருக்கமாக உள்ளன. இந்த நிலையில் கோபி என்பவரது வீட்டில் அவரது தாயார் ராஜலட்சுமி இன்று காலை வழக்கம்போல் சமையல் செய்வதற்காக கேஸ் அடுப்பை பற்ற வைத்த போது எதிர்பாராதவிதமாக பயங்கர சத்தத்துடன் சிலிண்டர் வெடித்து சிதறியது. இதில் அருகில் இருந்த வீடும், மேல்தளத்தில் இருந்த இரண்டு வீடும் என நான்கு வீடுகளும் இடிந்து தரைமட்டமாகின. மேலும் கட்டடத்தின் பாகங்கள் வெடித்துச் சிதறியதில் பால் வியாபாரி ஒருவரும், எதிர் வீட்டு வாசலில் கோலம் போட்டு கொண்டிருந்த தனலட்சுமி என்பவரின் மீது விழுந்ததில் இருவரும் பலத்த காயமடைந்தனர். இதையடுத்து அவர்களை அக்கம் பக்கத்தினர் ஓடிவந்து மீட்டு மருத்துவமனைக்கு அனுப்பி வைத்தனர்.
விபத்து குறித்து தகவல் அறிந்து விரைந்து வந்த செவ்வாய்பேட்டை தீயணைப்பு துறையினர், காவல்துறையினர் மற்றும் பொதுமக்கள் இணைந்து இடிபாடிகளில் சிக்கியவர்களை மீட்கும் பணியில் ஈடுபட்டனர். இதில் சுதர்சன், கோபால், சுப்பிரமணி, தனலட்சுமி, நாக சுதா, இந்திராணி, மோகன்ராஜ், கோபி, லோகேஷ், ராஜலட்சுமி , வெங்கடராஜன் ஆகியோரை மீட்டு சேலம் அரசு மருத்துவமனைக்கு சிகிச்சைக்காக அனுப்பி வைத்தனர். அங்கு அவர்களுக்கு தீவிர சிகிச்சை அளிக்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது. இதில் 80 வயதான ராஜலட்சுமி என்பவர் மருத்துவமனைக்கு கொண்டு செல்லும் போது உயிரிழந்தார். மூன்றரை மணிநேர போராட்டத்திற்கு பிறகு முருகன் என்பவரது 10 வயது மகள் பூஜாஸ்ரீ என்ற சிறுமி காயத்துடன் பத்திரமாக மீட்கப்பட்டு சிகிச்சைக்காக சேலம் அரசு மருத்துவமனையில் அனுமதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளார்.
மேலும் தீயணைப்புத் துறையில் பணிபுரிந்து வரும் பத்மநாபன் அவரது மனைவி தேவி மற்றும் பூஜாஸ்ரீயின் அண்ணன் கார்த்திக் ராம் ஆகிய மூன்று பேரும் இடிபாடுகளில் சிக்கி உள்ளனர். அவர்களை மீட்கும் பணி நடைபெற்று வந்தது. இதில் பத்மநாபன் சடலமாக மீட்கப்பட்டுள்ளார். மீட்புப் பணியில் 55 பேர் ஈடுபட்டு இருப்பதாகவும் இடிபாடுகளில் சிக்கியுள்ளவர்களை பத்திரமாக மீட்கும் பொருட்டு மிகுந்த எச்சரிக்கையுடன் மீட்பு பணிகள் நடைபெற்று வருவதாகவும் சேலம் மாவட்ட ஆட்சித்தலைவர் கார்மேகம் தெரிவித்தார்.
விபத்து குறித்து விசாரணை நடைபெற்று வருவதாகவும் விசாரணையின் முடிவிலேயே விபத்துக்கான முழு விவரம் தெரியவரும் என்றும் அவர் கூறினார். சேலம் மாநகர காவல் ஆணையாளர் நஜ்முல் ஹோதா மாநகராட்சி ஆணையாளர் கிறிஸ்துராஜ் உள்ளிட்டோர் சம்பவ இடத்தில் நடைபெற்று வரும் மீட்புப் பணிகளை நேரில் கண்காணித்து வருகின்றனர். விபத்து குறித்து செவ்வாப்பேட்டை காவல் துறையினர் வழக்குப் பதிவு செய்து விசாரணை மேற்கொண்டு வருகின்றனர்.
A gas cylinder exploded at a house in Salem and 4 houses collapsed, killing 12 people and injuring 12 others.
There are numerous apartments close by in the area of Salem Karungalpatti Bandurangan Temple Street. In this case the cylinder exploded with an unexpectedly terrifying noise when his mother Rajalakshmi lit the gas stove for cooking as usual this morning at Gopi’s house. All four houses collapsed, including a nearby house and two upstairs houses.
A milkman was also injured when parts of the building exploded and fell on a man named Dhanalakshmi who was hanging on the opposite door. Neighbors rushed them to the hospital.
Firefighters, police and members of the public rushed to the scene to rescue those trapped in the wreckage. Sudarshan, Gopal, Subramanian, Thanalakshmi, Naga Sudha, Indrani, Mohanraj, Kopi, Lokesh, Rajalakshmi and Venkatarajan were rescued and sent to Salem Government Hospital for treatment.
There they are being treated intensively. Rajalakshmi, 80, died on the way to the hospital. After a three-and-a-half hour struggle, Murugan's 10-year-old daughter Poojasree was rescued with injuries and admitted to Salem Government Hospital for treatment.
Padmanabhan, who also works in the fire department, and his wife Devi and Poojasree's brother Karthik Ram are all trapped in the rubble. The task of rescuing them was underway. Padmanabhan's body has been recovered. Salem District Collector Karmegam said that 55 people were involved in the rescue operation and that rescue operations were being carried out with utmost caution in order to rescue those trapped in the rubble.
He said the accident was being investigated and the full details of the accident would be known at the end of the investigation. Salem Municipal Commissioner of Police Najmul Hota and Municipal Commissioner Christuraj are monitoring the rescue operation at the scene. Police have registered a case and are investigating the accident.
