விழுப்புரம் மாவட்டம் செஞ்சி பகுதியில் கடந்த 3 நாட்களாக பலத்த மழை பெய்து வருவதால் அனைத்து ஏரிகளும் நிரம்பி விட்டன. இந்நிலையில் அப்பம்பட்டு, சென்னாலூர், புத்தகரம் உள்ளிட்ட இடங்களில் ஏரிகள் உடைப்பு ஏற்பட்டு தண்ணீர் வெளியேறியது. அப்பம்பட்டு ஏரி உடைந்ததால் சுமார் 150க்கும் மேற்பட்ட வீடுகளில் தண்ணீர் புகுந்தது. தெருக்களில் வெள்ளம் பாய்ந்தோடியது. இவ்வீடுகளில் இருந்த 300 பேர் தனியார் திருமண மண்டபத்தில் தங்க வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளனர்.

 

மேலும் இந்த தண்ணீர் அருகிலிருந்த விளைநிலங்களுக்குள் புகுந்தததால் சுமார் 250 ஏக்கர் பரப்பளவிலான நெற்பயிர்கள் சேதமடைந்தன. இதனைத்தொடர்ந்து சேதமடைந்த நெற்பயிர்களை அதிகாரிகள் ஆய்வு செய்து உரிய இழப்பீடு கிடைக்கப் பெறுவதற்கு நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க வேண்டும் என விவசாயிகள் அரசுக்கு கோரிக்கை விடுத்துள்ளனர்.

In addition, about 250 acres of paddy fields were damaged as the water seeped into nearby fields. The farmers have demanded the government to inspect the damaged paddy fields and take action to get proper compensation.
