சென்னையில் கன மழையால் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட பெசன்ட் நகரில் உள்ள ஊரூர் குப்பம், அடையாறு, இந்திரா நகர், ஐஸ்வர்யா காலனி, நீலாங்கரையில் உள்ள அறிஞர் அண்ணா நகர், ராஜேந்திரன் நகர், பாரதி நகர், தரமணி சிக்னல், வேளச்சேரி, டாக்டர் அம்பேத்கர் காலனி உள்ளிட்ட பகுதிகளுக்குச் சென்ற சசிகலா அப்பகுதி மக்களுக்கு நிவாரணப் பொருட்களை வழங்கினார்.

அதன்பின் செய்தியாளர்களைச் சந்தித்த அவர் பேசும்போது “இந்த கனமழை காலத்தில் அரசு சரிவர செயல்படவில்லை. வெள்ளத்தால் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட மக்களை அரசு காப்பாற்ற வேண்டும். வீடுகளை இழந்து தவிக்கும் மக்களை பாதுகாப்பான இடங்களில் தங்க வைக்க வேண்டும்.

டெல்டா மாவட்டங்களில் பயிர் நாசமாகியுள்ளது. அப்பகுதி விவசாயிகள் மிகவும் துன்பத்தில் உள்ளனர். அவர்களுக்கு தேவையான உதவிகளை அரசு செய்ய வேண்டும். பாதிப்புகளுக்கு ஏற்ப இழப்பீடுகளை அரசு வழங்க வேண்டும். வேளாண் சட்டம் விலக்கிக் கொள்ளப்பட்டது நல்ல விஷயம்தான்” என்று தெரிவித்தார்.
