காந்தி பிறந்த நாளில் கதருடைகளை உடுத்துவோம் நெசவாளர்களை உயர்த்துவோம் என தமிழக முதல்வர் முக.ஸ்டாலின் அறிக்கை ஒன்றை வெளியிட்டுள்ளார்.

அந்த அறிக்கையில், “உழவும், நெசவும் உன்னதப் பணிகள், ஒன்று வயிற்றை நிறைக்கிறது. இன்னொன்று உடலை மறைக்கிறது. நெய்யும் தொழில் பொறுமையும், பொறுப்பும் நிறைந்தது. பிசிறும், பிழையுமில்லாமல் உன்னிப்பாக பணியாற்றினால் மட்டுமே உயர்ந்த வகை ஆடைகளை நெய்தெடுக்க முடியும். உடைகளே மனிதனை நாகரீகம் கொண்டவனாக மாற்றியது.

தமிழ்நாட்டில் தொன்றுதொட்டு நெசவை நேர்த்தியாக மேற்கொள்ளும் குடும்பங்கள் இருக்கின்றன. சிற்றூர்களில் வாழும் அவர்கள் சிரித்து மகிழும்படி அவர்கள் வாழ்வு சீரடைய வேண்டுமென்பதற்காக அரசு எண்ணற்ற திட்டங்களைத் தீட்டிச் செயல்படுத்தி வருகிறது.

'கதர்' என்ற சொல் 'கிளர்ச்சி' என்ற அடையாளம் கொண்டது. அந்நியர் ஆதிக்கத்திற்கு எதிராக 'உள்ளூர் உடைகளையே உடுத்துவோம்' என்ற அண்ணல் காந்தியடிகள் கையில் எடுத்த ஆயுதமாக கதர் இருந்தது.

சிற்றூர்களில் வசிக்கும் நெசவாளர்களின் திறனைக் கொண்டு இப்போதுள்ள இரசனைக்கேற்ப கண்ணைக் கவர்ந்து, கருத்தை ஈர்த்து, இதயத்தில் இடம்பிடிக்குமளவு வண்ண வண்ண வகைகளில் வடிவமைக்கப்பட்டு கதரங்காடிகள் மூலம் அவை விற்பனை செய்யப்பட்டு வருகின்றன.

நம் தமிழ்நாடு கலைவண்ணம் கொண்ட நெசவாளர்களுக்குப் பிறப்பிடம். சங்க காலத்தில் பாலாடை அன்ன நூலாடைகளை மேற்கிற்கு ஏற்றுமதி செய்த விற்பன்னர்கள். அந்தத் தொன்மை இன்றும் தொடர்கிறது.

தமிழ்நாடு முழுவதும் 48 கதரங்காடிகள் இருக்கின்றன. அவற்றின் மூலம் குறைந்த விலையில் நிறைந்த தரத்துடன் கதர் பருத்தி, பாலியஸ்டர், கதர் பட்டுப்புடவைகளை வழங்கவேண்டும் என்ற நோக்கத்துடன் ஆண்டு முழுவதும் 30 விழுக்காடு தள்ளுபடியை அரசு அனுமதித்து விற்பனை செய்யப்படுகிறது.

விடுதலையடைந்து 75 ஆண்டுகள் நிறைவுற்றதைக் கொண்டாடும் வேளையில் அண்ணல் காந்தியடிகள் பிறந்த இந்த இனிய நாளில் சிற்றூர் கைவினைஞர்களால் தயாரிக்கப்படும் கைவினைப் பொருட்களையும், எளிய மக்கள் இன்மையாக நெய்த கதராடைகளையும், அவர்தம் வாழ்வில் ஒளியேற்றி வைக்கும் வகையில் இளைஞர்கள், அரசு ஊழியர்கள், மாணவர்கள் என அனைத்துத் தரப்பினரும் வாங்கி உடுத்தி பெருமையடைய வேண்டும் என வேண்டுகிறேன்.

விடுதலையின் பெருமிதத்தை விழிகளில் ஏந்துவோம்! வீரத்தின் அடையாளத்தை உடலில் தாங்குவோம்!” எனக் குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளார்.
