நெகிழ்ச்சியாக்கிய சேலம் ஆட்சியர்-Flexible Salem Collector

சேலம் மாவட்ட ஆட்சியர் கார்மேகம், தன்னிடம் உதவிகேட்டு வந்த மாற்றுதிறனாளிக்கு தேவையானவற்றை, அவர் கோரிக்கை விடுத்து சில நிமிடங்களுக்குள் சாத்தியப்படுத்தி அங்கிருந்த அனைவரையும் நெகிழச் செய்துள்ளார்.

சேலம் மாவட்டம் டேனிஷ்பேட்டை பகுதியைச் சேர்ந்த கூலித்தொழிலாளி ராமலிங்கத்தின் மகன் வரதராஜன். தோற்றத்தில் சிறுவன் போல் காட்சியளிக்கும் வரதராஜனுக்கு வயது 22. இவருக்கு கை மற்றும் கால்கள் 100 சதவிகிதம் செயல்திறன் குறைபாடு கொண்டது. மாற்றுத்திறனாளியான இவர், சேலத்தில் ஒன்றரை ஆண்டுகளுக்குப் பின் தொடங்கப்பட்ட மக்கள் குறைதீர்ப்பு நாளில் குடும்ப வறுமை காரணமாக உதவிகோரி ஆட்சியர் அலுவலகத்திற்கு தனது தந்தையுடன் இன்று வந்திருந்தார்.

இக்கூட்டத்தில் மாற்றுதிறனாளிகளை நேரில் சென்று சந்தித்து கோரிக்கைகளை கேட்டறிந்து மனுக்களை பெற்ற சேலம் மாவட்ட ஆட்சித்தலைவர் கார்மேகம், வரதராஜனின் நிலை குறித்து கேட்டறிந்தார். இதனைத்தொடர்ந்து, வரதராஜனின் கோரிக்கையை ஏற்று ரூபாய் 6,400 மதிப்பிலான சிறப்பு சர்க்கர நாற்காலியை சம்பவ இடத்திலேயே உடனடியாக வழங்கினார். அதோடு மட்டுமின்றி வரதராஜனை தானே தூக்கி சர்க்கர நாற்காலியில் அமர வைத்து, கூட்ட அரங்கிலிருந்து வாயில் வரை தள்ளிக்கொண்டு வந்தார் ஆட்சியர். மேலும் அவர் பேசுகையில், “அரசின் அனைத்து உதவிகளும் கிடைக்க உரிய நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கப்படும்” என்று உறுதியளித்தார். தொடர்ந்து மாற்றுத்திறனாளி நலத்துறை வாகனத்தில் வரதராஜன் மற்றும் அவரது குடும்பத்தினரை சொந்த ஊருக்கு அனுப்பி வைத்தார். ஆட்சியரின் இந்த செயல் வரதராஜன் குடும்பத்தினர் உள்ளிட்ட அனைவரையும் நெகிழ்ச்சி அடையச்செய்தது.

Salem District Collector Karmegam has made it possible for the disabled person who came to him for help to make the necessary arrangements within minutes of his request and has made everyone there move.

Varadarajan is the son of Ramalingam, a laborer from Danishpet, Salem district. Varadarajan, who looks like a boy, is 22. His arms and legs are 100 per cent impaired. The disabled man had come with his father today to the Collector's Office to seek help due to family poverty on the day of public grievance which started a year and a half later in Salem.

During the meeting, Salem District Collector Karmegam, who received petitions after hearing the demands of the disabled, inquired about Varadarajan's condition. Following this, he accepted Varadarajan's request and immediately handed over a special sugar chair worth Rs. 6,400 on the spot. Besides, the collector lifted Varadarajan himself and put him in a wheelchair and pushed him from the meeting hall to the gate.

He further assured that "appropriate steps will be taken to make all government assistance available". He then sent Varadarajan and his family back to their hometown in a welfare vehicle. This action of the Collector made everyone flexible, including Varadarajan's family.
