சீறிப்பாய்ந்த காளைகள்-Furious bulls

விளாத்திகுளம் அருகே மாபெரும் மாட்டுவண்டி எல்கை பந்தயம் நடைபெற்றது. இதில், சீறிபாய்ந்த கோவில்பட்டி, சிவகங்கை விருதுநகர் மாட்டு வண்டிகள் முதலிடம் பிடித்தன.

தூத்துக்குடி மாவட்டம் விளாத்திகுளம் அருகேயுள்ள புதூரில், புதூர் வட்டார மாட்டு வண்டி பந்தய சங்கம் சார்பில் முதலாம் ஆண்டு மாபெரும் மாட்டுவண்டி எல்கை பந்தயம் இன்று நடைபெற்றது. பெரிய மாடு, சின்ன மாடு என இரு பிரிவுகளாக நடைபெற்ற இந்த மாட்டு வண்டி போட்டியில் 60 ஜோடி மாடுகள் கலந்து கொண்டன.

முதலில் பெரிய மாட்டுவண்டி போட்டி நடைபெற்றது. 16 கிலோ மீட்டர் தூரம் நடைபெற்ற இந்த போட்டியில் 29 மாட்டு வண்டிகள் கலந்து கொண்டன. இதில், கோவில்பட்டி கடம்பூர் மாட்டுவண்டி முதலிடத்தையும், 2வது இடத்தை மேட்டூர் மாட்டு வண்டியும், 3வது இடத்தை சக்கமாள்புரம் மாட்டு வண்டியும் பெற்றது.

இதனைத் தொடர்ந்து சிறிய மாட்டு வண்டி போட்டிகள் இரு பிரிவுகளாக நடைபெற்றது. 12 கிலோ மீட்டர் தொலைவு கொண்ட இந்த போட்டியில் முதலில் 16 மாட்டு வண்டிகளும், இரண்டாவதாக நடைபெற்ற போட்டியில் 15 மாட்டு வண்டிகளும் பங்கேற்றன. முதலில் நடைபெற்ற சின்ன மாட்டு வண்டி போட்டியில் சிவகங்கை மாவட்ட மாட்டுவண்டி முதலிடத்தையும், நெல்லை சீவலப்பேரி மாட்டுவண்டி 2வது இடத்தையும், கலிங்கப்பட்டி மாட்டு வண்டி 3வது இடத்தையும் பிடித்தன.

2வதாக நடைபெற்ற சின்ன மாட்டு வண்டி போட்டியில் விருதுநகர் மாவட்ட மாட்டு வண்டி முதலிடத்தையும், 2வது இடத்தைனை நெல்லை மறுகால்குறிச்சி மாட்டு வண்டியும், 3வது இடத்தை தூத்துக்குடி குறுக்குசாலை மாட்டு வண்டியும் பிடித்தன. சாலையில் சீறிப்பாய்ந்த மாடுகளை பொது மக்கள் ஆர்வமுடன் கண்டு களித்தனர். பின்னர் நடைபெற்ற பரிசளிப்பு விழாவில் வெற்றி பெற்ற மாட்டு வண்டி உரிமையாளர்கள் மற்றும் வண்டிகளை ஓட்டிய சாரதிகளுக்கும் பரிசுகள் வழங்கப்பட்டன.

A huge bullock cart race was held near Vilathikulam. In this, the cattle carts of Kovilpatti and Sivagangai Virudhunagar topped the list.

The first annual bullock cart race was held today on behalf of the Puthur Regional Cattle Racing Association at Puthur near Vilathikulam in Thoothukudi District. About 60 pairs of cows participated in this cow cart competition which was held in two categories as big cow and small cow.

First the big cow competition was held. The race, which covered a distance of 16 km, was attended by 29 cow carts. In this, Kovilpatti Kadampur cow came first, Mettur cow came second and Chakkamalpuram cow came third.

This was followed by a small chariot race in two categories. The first 16 cow carts competed in the 12 km race and the second 15 cow carts. Sivagangai District Cattle came first, Nellai Sivalapperi Cattle came second and Kalingapatti Cattle came third in the first small cow cart competition.

In the 2nd small cow cart competition Virudhunagar district cow cart won the first place, Nellai Marukalkurichi cow cart won the 2nd place and Thoothukudi cross cart cow won the 3rd place. The general public watched with interest as the cows roared on the road. Prizes were also awarded to the winning cow cart owners and the drivers who drove the carts at the awards ceremony held later.
