அரியலூர் மாவட்டம் நல்லநாயக்கபுரம் கிராமத்தை சேர்ந்த செல்வகுமார், 12ஆம் வகுப்பு முடித்துவிட்டு டிப்ளமோ சேர்ந்துள்ளார். இந்நிலையில் செல்வகுமார் வீட்டில் செல்போன் பயன்படுத்தியதற்காக அவரது பெற்றோர் திட்டியதாகக் கூறப்படுகிறது. இதனால் விரக்தியடைந்த செல்வகுமார் கடந்த 10ஆம் தேதி விஷம் அருந்தி தற்கொலைக்கு முயன்றார். இதையடுத்து சிகிச்சைக்காக மருத்துவமனையில் அனுமதிக்கப்பட்ட நிலையில் சிகிச்சைப் பலனின்றி செல்வகுமார் உயிரிழந்தார்.
