தீபாவளியையொட்டி, சொந்த ஊர் செல்லும் மக்களுக்காக சென்னையின் 6 இடங்களிலிருந்து சிறப்பு பேருந்துகள் இயக்கப்படுகின்றன. சென்னை கோயம்பேடு பேருந்து நிலையத்தில், சிறப்பு பேருந்துகளின் இயக்கத்தை போக்குவரத்துத்துறை அமைச்சர் ராஜக்கண்ணப்பன் ஆய்வு செய்தார். பின்னர் செய்தியாளர்களிடம் பேசிய அவர், நேற்று இரவு 7 மணி வரை அரசுப் பேருந்துகள் மூலம் ஒரு லட்சத்து 88 ஆயிரம் பேர் பயணம் செய்துள்ளதாக தெரிவித்தார். மேலும், முன்பதிவு வாயிலாக 5 கோடியே 46 இலட்சம் ரூபாய் வருவாய் கிடைத்துள்ளதாகவும் அமைச்சர் கூறினார். ஆம்னி பேருந்துகளில் அதிக கட்டணம் வசூல் செய்தால் கட்டணமில்லா தொலைபேசி வாயிலாக புகார் தெரிவிக்கலாம் என்றும் அதிக கட்டணம் வசூலித்ததாக 5 ஆம்னி பேருந்துகள் மீது நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளதாகவும் ராஜகண்ணப்பன் தெரிவித்தார்.

தீபாவளி கொண்டாடுவதற்காக பலர் சென்னையிலிருந்து புறப்பட்டதால், தாம்பரத்தை அடுத்த பெருங்களத்தூரில் கடும் போக்குவரத்து நெரிசல் ஏற்பட்டது. பால வேலை நடைபெற்று வரும் நிலையில் ஜி.எஸ்.டி. சாலையில் வாகனங்கள் ஊர்ந்து சென்றன. பண்டிகை காலங்களில், பெருங்குளத்தூரில் தொடர் போக்குவரத்து நெரிசல் ஏற்படுவதை தடுக்க நிர்ந்த தீர்வு தேவை என பயணிகள் கோரிக்கை வைக்கின்றனர். இதேபோல், பூவிருந்தவல்லியிலிருந்து சிறப்பு பேருந்துகள் இயக்கப்படும் நிலையில், அங்கு போக்குவரத்து நெரிசல் ஏற்பட்டது. கோயம்பேட்டிலிருந்து புறப்படும் சிறப்புப் பேருந்துகளும் பூவிருந்தவல்லி நெடுஞ்சாலை வழியே வண்டலூர் - மீஞ்சூர் வெளிவட்ட சாலைக்கு செல்வதால் வாகன நெரிசல் அதிகம் காணப்பட்டது.
About 2 lakh people have left their hometowns in government buses for Deepavali.
Special buses are available from 6 places in Chennai for Deepavali. Transport Minister Rajakannapan inspected the operation of special buses at the Chennai Coimbatore bus stand. He later told reporters that one lakh 88 thousand people had traveled by government buses till 7 pm last night. The Minister also said that 5 crore 46 lakh rupees has been earned through bookings. Rajakannapan said that if there is a high toll on Omni buses, complaints can be made over the phone and action has been taken against 5 Omni buses for overcharging.
As many people left Chennai to celebrate Deepavali, there was heavy traffic congestion in Perungalathur next to Tambaram. While the bridge work is going on, the GST Vehicles crawled on the road. During the festive season, travelers demand a permanent solution to prevent further traffic congestion in Perungulathur. Similarly, there was a traffic jam while special buses were operating from Poovirunthavalli. Special buses departing from Coimbatore via the Poovirunthavalli Highway to the Vandalur-Minsur Outer Ring Road will experience heavy traffic.
