நான்கு பேரை தாக்கிக் கொன்றுள்ள T23 புலியைச் சுட்டுக்கொல்ல உத்தரவிடப்பட்டுள்ள நிலையில், அதனைத் தேடும் பணி முடுக்கி விடப்பட்டுள்ளது. வனத்துறை, காவல்துறை மற்றும் அதிரடிப்படை ஆகியவற்றைச் சேர்ந்த நூற்றுக்கும் மேற்பட்டோர் இப்பணியில் ஈடுபட்டுள்ளனர்.
புலியைக் கண்டறியும் பணியில் முதன்முறையாக சிப்பிப்பாறை இனத்தைச் சேர்ந்த எட்டு மாத நாய் பயன்படுத்தப்படுகிறது. சந்தனமரக் கடத்தலில் ஈடுபட்டோர், யானை உயிரிழப்புக்கு காரணமானோரைக் கண்டறிவதில் உதவி புரிந்த அதவை என்ற பெண் நாய், புலியைக் கண்டறிவதற்கு பேருதவி புரியும் என்கின்றனர். புலியை மயக்க ஊசி செலுத்தி பிடிக்க முயற்சி செய்யப்படும் என்றும் அந்த முயற்சி தோல்வியடைந்தால் சுட்டுக்கொல்ல நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கப்படும் என வனத்துறையினர் கூறியுள்ளனர்.

An eight-month-old oyster dog has been used for the first time in the search for a tiger. Those involved in the sandalwood smuggling say that the female dog, Adavai, who helped find the cause of the elephant's death, will be of great help in locating the tiger.
The forest department has said that an attempt will be made to capture the tiger by injecting it with anesthetic and if that attempt fails, action will be taken to shoot it.
