விழுப்புரம் மாவட்டம் பொன்னங்குப்பம் ஊராட்சித் தலைவர் பதவி ஏலம் விடப்பட்டதாக எழுந்த பிரச்னையை அடுத்து , 22 வேட்பாளர்கள் தங்களது வேட்புமனுக்களை திரும்ப பெற்றுள்ளனர்.
துத்திப்பட்டு கிராமத்தில் ஊராட்சி மன்றத் தலைவர் பதவி 13லட்சம் ரூபாய்க்கும், கவுன்சிலர் பதவி 20 லட்சத்து 8ஆயிரம் ரூபாய்க்கும் ஏலம் விடப்பட்டதாக புகார் எழுந்தது. இதனை கண்டித்து பொன்னங்குப்பம் கிராமமக்கள் தேர்தலை புறக்கணிக்க போவதாக ஏற்கனவே முடிவு செய்திருந்தனர்.
இந்த நிலையில், பொன்னங்குப்பம் ஊராட்சியின் 7,8,9 ஆகிய வார்டுகளுக்கு வேட்புமனு தாக்கல் செய்திருந்த வேட்பாளர்கள் 22 பேர் தங்களது வேட்புமனுக்களை திரும்பப் பெற்றுள்ளனர். பொன்னங்குப்பம் கிராமத்தை தனி ஊராட்சியாக அறிவிக்க கோரியும் தேர்தலை புறக்கணிக்கப்பதாக கிராம மக்கள் கூறியுள்ளனர்.
